A NEW PERSPECTIVE ON DISTRACTED DRIVING
Distracted driving has become the biggest risk in highway safety today. It is now one of the leading causes of collisions and highway fatalities. This interactive online course is dedicated to reversing this trend through education.
Recognizing the dangers posed by multi-tasking behind the wheel, we have been focused on the challenge of driving distractions from the beginning. We started in 1952, with a pioneering approach to driver training focused on how to properly use seeing skills for safe driving. Fast forward to 2007 and we created our video, Are You Playing With A Full Deck?, long before the nation turned its attention toward this topic.
This module presents compelling information in a manner that will change your drivers' opinions about using cell phones and other hand-held devices while driving. It also focuses on a broader view of four types of distractions, including:
- Cognitive -- the kinds of mental lapses that interrupt your driving focus
- Physical -- anything that takes your hands off the steering wheel
- Visual -- items outside the vehicle like that new, huge LED billboard
- Auditory -- radio, passenger conversations, etc.
This course offers students rich interactive content that will persuade them to reduce their own distractions while also preparing them to identify and avoid distracted drivers sharing the roads.
We all need to educate our employees and our families on the dangers of distracted driving and what a momentary lapse in concentration can mean while operating a vehicle in traffic.
