Two
Day Incident Review
Course
At Smith System we realize that a “one
size fits all” solution may not work for every customer need.
While the 5 Keys® are universally appropriate in any driving situation;
specialized vehicle types, work environments or cultural differences
may require a customized training solution.
Whether its language translations, customized
programs that include company specific policies and procedures, or presentations
that are created fresh “from the ground up” due to specialized
applications, Smith System has the technical knowledge and expertise
to create the most effective driving safety program.
Case Study:
ExxonMobil Aviation came to Smith System
in 2003 looking for an on-road training program for their aircraft refuelers
operating around the world. The result was a customized solution rolled
out to over 200 international airports, in 17 languages, all with EMA
specific procedures, training aids, curriculum and a video. The program,
known as the Airside Defensive Driver Training, has been implemented
and is producing superior results.
“The roll-out of the Smith System Airside
Defensive Driver Training aims to target the issue of motor vehicle
accidents and aircraft refueling accidents. This training package has
received excellent responses with sessions held by local trainers supported
by materials in the local language across the globe.” Bryan Milton
Director, ExxonMobil Aviation International Ltd.

Two-Day
Classroom Seminar
on the 5 Keys Principles
If your drivers are expected to use the
“Smith System” while behind the wheel, it makes sense to review
your vehicle mishaps based on these same “5 Keys” principles.
It is also logical that anyone judging preventability based on “Smith
System” should be trained to do so. After all, a poorly handled
judgment on traffic collision preventability can damage morale, expose
your organization to human resources issues and impact support for your
safety initiatives. This course is perfect for managers, supervisors and
others who need education in using the “5 Keys” to provide
a fair and reasonable assessment of incident preventability.
Advantages of this two day session
• Small
group size insures personal attention
• Includes classroom
and on-road instruction
• Professionalizes
and standardizes your
 Accident
Review Committee
• You will learn
how to help drivers grasp
 their
mistakes and understand the changes necessary
to avoid repeat incident
• Each student
will have many opportunities to analyze
common crashes
If you believe, as we do, that preventability and legal fault are not
necessarily the same thing – that even drivers not cited sometimes
could have avoided an incident through reasonable measures…then
you need to attend this course and learn how to translate your awareness
into a more successful post-collision strategy!
A Half-Day Classroom Seminar
Presented By Our Instructor!
Driving is a complex
task that requires drivers to deal with constantly changing variables
skillfully and consistently. Remaining collision free, year after
year, has much more to do with skill than with luck.
The Smith System Seminar is an effective tool that can be used to help
you achieve the fleet safety record you seek. This program is designed
to teach experienced drivers the kind of practical information that really
makes a difference in traffic collision avoidance. The seminar is advanced,
adult-level education built around our unique approach to driver safety.
The Classroom Seminar Covers:
•
Causes of collisions
• Using our "5
Keys" to improve driver skills
• Avoiding backing
collisions
• How attitude
effects driver's actions

to your employees.
Incident Review Course
Professionalize your organization’s analysis
of preventability
If your drivers are expected to use the “Smith System” while
behind the wheel, it makes sense to review your vehicle mishaps based
on these same “5 Keys” principles. This course is perfect
for managers, supervisors and others who need education in using the “5
Keys” to provide a fair and reasonable assessment of incident preventability.
CEUs are given to the students who complete this course.
Behind the Wheel Backing Course
For over 50 years Smith System has known
and taught that the best way to avoid a backing collision is to avoid
backing. We also know that backing avoidance is not always an option.
Our new Behind the Wheel Backing Course is designed to help drivers when
backing is the only option. Drivers develop a true understanding of their
vehicle before they practice serpentine forward and back, backing to the
sight and blind sides and parallel parking.
